Welcome to American Indian TV PDF Print E-mail

Since the beginning, Indian time has been measured in moons and seasons. Tradition and culture have been passed to each generation by word of mouth, and skills transferred by the elders to the young.

In the past, American Indian stories have been told on the various mediums of modern society, however no unified and easily accessible television network existed to aggregate this content and express the voice of the Original Americans.

Now that forum exists and it is American Indian TV (AITV)! - An American Indian-centric television network featuring video and film programming to be delivered in North America and throughout the world. This programming will be delivered directly to television sets and PCs via Internet Protocol Television, commonly known as IPTV.

AITV will deliver our television experience to your home, business, or school through a Set Top Box. This box connects directly to your broadband Internet connection and to your TV as easily as a VCR or DVD, and delivers high-quality content that you can watch just as you would traditional cable television.

Live and breaking news, political debates, sports, entertainment, dramas, documentaries, special features, educational and culturally relevant programming all brought to you directly from Native people. Make American Indian TV a part of your life.

Just as digital cable television can support over a thousand channels, AITV's IPTV distribution platform can support an unlimited quantity of channels. Indian tribes, nations, villages, clans and native corporations now have the opportunity to sponsor dedicated channels which will be available to all AITV subscribers.

AITV will launch with multiple channels, with dozens more to follow. Here are some features of our service:
  • Unlimited Channels: AITV will provide live and pre-recorded content featuring TV broadcasts of American Indian and Canadian Native News, Pow Wows, educational series, Native conferences and tribal-specific "spotlights," music, dance, and a community portal of user generated videos - created by Native people for Native people
  • Movies on Demand: Subscribers will have instant access to a library of popular films you might ordinarily expect to find on cable or satellite television - additionally, AITV will tap into the largely undistributed pool of award winning films and videos produced by the American Indian, Alaskan Native and Canadian First Peoples.
  • AITV Digital, on-screen guide: Our digital remote will allow you to access on-screen program listings to help you search for shows by date, title, time, tribe or theme.
  • Fully interactive website: www.americanindiantv.com will be there for you. Our website will include the same channels, the same content, and a full array of social networking features including a calendar of events, articles of interests, technical support and customer service.
  • Your Set Top Box makes it all possible: With your monthly subscription, you will be able to access AITV programming on your television - a virtual home-theater environment powered by Internet technology. Traveling? Take the set top box with you and access AITV anywhere in the world where there is broadband.

INVOLVING THE COMMUNITY! AITV would like to help interested Native communities by developing revenue sharing opportunities through content creation and delivery.

The time for the American Indian to have a permanent and culturally powerful place on TV has arrived!

We are enrolling communities now, make sure yours is one of the first! Register
